Efektivitas Pendidikan Kesehatan terhadap Pengetahuan dan Sikap Pencegahan Penularan Penyakit Skabies pada Santri di Pondok Pesantren Darul Arafah Raya Medan

Abstract

Scabies often affects densely populated and unsanitary environments. One such vulne rable place is Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Frequently, students in th ese environments neglect personal hygiene and healthy living practices due to a lack of knowledge and awareness. Health education is necessary to enhance students' knowledge and awareness. This study aims to determine the effe ctiveness of health education on knowledge and attitude s towards scabies pre vention among students at Darul Ara/ah Raya Islamic Boarding School, Medan. Th e research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, using a one -g roup pre -test and post-test model. Th e sample consists of 75 male students selected through random sampling and proportionate random sampling techniques. Based on the Wilcoxon test results, there were significant improve ments in students' knowledge and attitude s before and after receiving health education, with p-values of 0.000 (p <0.05) for both knowledge and attitude. This indicates a significant change in kno wledge and attitudes towards scabies pre vention among th e students. Th e conclusion of this study is that health education is effective in improving knowledge and attitudes towards scabies prevention among students at Darul Ara/ah Raya Islamic Boarding School. Medan. It is recommended that th e school administration conduct regular health che ck-ups for students al least once a month, imple me nt policies regarding scabies preve ntion behaviors within th e school environment, and continuously monitor students' adherence to these preventive measures.
