dc.description.abstract | The number of traffic accidents is increasing and the number of victims killed or injured. So the solution to this is by adding a safety system implemented by manufacturers of transportation equipment, especially in four-wheeled vehicles. One of the safety systems found in four-wheeled vehicles is a crash box, Crash box is a passive safety system and part of an accident safety system designed to reduce the severity of accidents to passengers or important parts of the vehicle due to frontal collisions. This study aims to identify the amount of energy absorption and deformation patterns in crash boxes with experimental test methods. This research was conducted with Drop weight test equipment and load heights of 1 meter, 2 meters, 3 meters with Aluminum crash box material. From the results obtained that the deformation pattern formed is bending mode and axial mode and obtained the largest energy absorption in the crash box 3 meter load height of 2028.6 J. | en_US |
