Kerukunan Etnis di Kabupaten Langkat Pasca Pemilihan Presiden 2024

Abstract

The existence of ethnic diversity in Langkat Regency indicates that the population in Langkat Regency is heterogeneous. This diversity is certainly interesting in the context of social relations between communities amidst increasingly strong identity politics in regional politics. This article attempts to explain how harmony can occur and be maintained in a multicultural society after the 2024 Presidential Election in Langkat Regency. This research uses qualitative methods. The qualitative approach has natural characteristics as a direct, descriptive data source, the process is more important than the results. The results of this research are that basically, to realize inter-ethnic harmony, especially in Langkat Regency after the 2024 General Election, public awareness is needed to implement the principle of unity in diversity. In the context of the 2024 Presidential Election in Langkat, ethnicity plays an important role in shaping the political landscape. However, the use of this ethnic identity is only in the Legislative Election, not in the Presidential Election. The author summarizes several factors of harmony that occur in Langkat Regency in several areas, namely, the social and economic sector, the education sector, and the religious sector. In facing the 2024 Presidential Election which has the potential to give rise to identity politics, hoaxes and hate speech, implementing the harmonious value of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is a relevant solution.
