dc.description.abstract | Breadfruit leaves (Artocarpus altilis) contain secondary metabolites that play a role in accelerating the closure of burns. Nanogel is a form of pharmaceutical preparation that increases the absorption of active compounds through the skin. The purpose of this study to formulate and test the activity of nanogel preparations from ethanol extract of breadfruit leaves as a burn medicine in male white rats.
The preparation of breadfruit leaf ethanol extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent and tested for physical characteristics of the preparation, stability, antibacterial activity, irritation and healing of burns on the skin of rats. Nanogel formulation was made in 3 concentrations, namely F1 (1.5625%), F2 (3.125%) and F3 (6.25%).
Nanogel of breadfruit leaf ethanol extract (EEDS) has a stable particle size during 12 weeks of storage, organoleptically there is no change in color, odor and phase separation, the spreadability of EEDS nanogel is in the range of good spreadability requirements of 5 7 cm, the transmittance test of the three formulas produces a transmittance percentage of 92.17% to 92.98%, the nanogel preparation is stable in 12 weeks of storage at low temperature, room temperature and high temperature, the pH obtained during 12 weeks of storage is in accordance with the skin pH, the viscosity ranges from 2970 3227 cPs, the centrifugation test and cycling test do not show phase separation, in the antibacterial activity test, nanogel containing breadfruit leaf ethanol extract has an inhibition zone diameter of 9.4 mm to 11 mm against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and does not irritate rabbits. The wound healing activity of the group of mice given F2 showed a faster percentage decrease in wound diameter of 92.84% within 21 days compared to the F1 and F3 groups with a healing percentage of 81.14% and a concentration of 88.91% within 21 days. Histopathologically, F2 showed the highest average blood vessel formation of 14, compared to F1 and F3 with an average of 9.4 and 10, respectively. The formation of fibroblast cells F1, F2 and F3 averaged 95, 148 and 132, respectively. The density of collagen F1, F2 and F3 averaged 1 (<10%), 3 (50 90%), 3 (90 100%).
The results of this study can be based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the preparation of ethanol extract nanogel of breadfruit leaves is stable in 12 weeks of storage at low, room, and high temperatures and has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The preparation of ethanol extract nanogel of breadfruit leaves 3.125% has better wound healing activity than the concentrations of 1.5625% and 6.25%. | en_US |
