Collaboration in The Development of Coffee Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Dokan Village, Karo District
Abstract
This Research aims to analyze the implementation of collaboration in the development of coffee Mikro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Dokan Village, Karo Regency. This research is important to provide an in-depth understanding of collaboration between parties to improve the community’s economy through the development of coffee MSMEs.
The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were conducted by interview, observation, literature study, and secondary data analysis. This research was conducted in Dokan Village, Merek District, Karo Regency. The research information consisted of the Karo Agriculture Office, The Karo Regency Industry and Trade Office, The Head of Dokan Village, The Dokan Village Welfare Section, and coffee MSMEs managers.
The result showed that the implementation of collaborative in the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) included indicators of Ansell and Gash (2007) theory. Face to face dialogue has been implemented through regular meetings. However, written rules related to collaboration are not yet available, which is an obstacle in building trust. Commitment from related parties, namely the Department of Agricultured and the Departement of Industry and Trade, has not been consistent, as seen from non-routine activities. Although a common understanding has been reached, promotion and marketing still need improvement. The temporary impact is that Dokan village’s coffee production is more effective and efficient, but in terms of marketing promotion, it is not yet optimal.
