Study of Biobriquette Characteristics from Rubber Tree Biomass Waste (Hevea Brasiliensis Muell. Arg.)
Abstract
Indonesia has the largestmrubber plantations in the world which produce quite large amounts of rubber biomass waste, so that it can bemused as an alternative fuel from the use of rubber tree waste for daily survival. These briquettes will later be used to heat rooms and as industrial fuel. The basic ingredients for making these briquettes come from rubber tree waste, namely rubber leaves, rubber wood twigs, rubber seed shells, rubber roll waste as adhesive. This researchmused a 2 Factorial Completely RandomizedmDesign (CRD). The first factormis the type of raw material and the mixture ratio for each type of bioriquette making material consisting of: J1 = Rubber leaves 30 gr, J2 = Rubber seed shells 30 gr, J3 = Rubber wood twigs 30 gr, J4 = Mixture (rubber leaves 5 gr + seed shells 10g rubber + 15g rubber wood twigs) and J5 = Mixture (5g rubber leaves + 15g rubber seed shells + 10g rubber wood twigs). The second factorial variation in the mass of rubber tile adhesive consists of V1 = 3 gr and V2 = 5 gr. The research results showed that themuse of a mixture of raw materials compared to each type of material had no significantmeffectmon ash content, combustion rate and density, but had a significant effect on the water content and calorificmvalue.mThe highest calorific value and combustion rate of biobriquettes were found in J5 (5 g leaves + 15 g seed shells + 10 g wooden twigs). The use of variations in the mass of rubber rolling adhesive has no significant effect on ash content, density and burning rate but has a significant effect on the water content and calorificmvalue of biobriquettes. The highest water content and calorific value of biobriquettes was found in treatment V2 (5 g). The interactionmof the type of raw material and the mixture ratio of each type of material with the use of variations in the mass of rubber talcum adhesive has no significant effectxon the ash content, water content, density, combustion rate and calorific value of biobriquettes.
