Pengaruh Ekstrak Jamur Tiram Putih (Pleurotus ostreatus) terhadap Kualitas Sperma Tikus Wistar Putih Jantan (Rattus norvegicus) yang Diinduksi oleh Cyclophosphamide
Effects of White Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) on the Sperm Quality of Cyclophosphamide-Induced Male White Wistar Rats (Rattus norvegicus)
Abstract
Infertility is still a scourge for couples, especially men. Treatment options for infertility are still limited, so further comprehensive research efforts are needed. White oyster mushrooms are known to have ingredients that can reduce the level of infertility, such as vitamin E and flavonoids. This study aims to determine the effect of white oyster mushroom extract (Pleurotus ostreatus) on the sperm quality of male white Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by Cyclophosphamide (CP).
The study was conducted using the Posttest-Only Control Design method with white wistar rat test animals grouped into 6 treatment groups with each consisting of 5 rats. The six types of treatment are: normal control (P0); negative control (P1) with 200 mg/kgBB CP induction; positive control (P2) with the administration of vitamin E 2.86 mg/kgBB and CP 200 mg/kgBB; administration of extract of white oyster mushroom by oral sonde with three dose variations namely 400 mg/kgBB (P3), 600 mg/kgBB (P4), and 800 mg/kgBB (P5). The six treatments were carried out for 14 days then the rats were sacrificed and the testes, cauda epididymys, and seminal vesicles were taken. Sperm quality was calculated including sperm concentration, sperm motility, and sperm morphology whose data were then analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA method on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23 application.
The results showed that a dose of oyster mushroom extract of 800 mg/kgBB had the same protective effect as vitamin E in increasing the concentration, motility, and normal morphology of CP-induced rat sperm because white oyster mushroom extract contains vitamin E, vitamin C and other antioxidant compounds. In treatment P5, one sonde contains 13,784 mg and 35,041 mg of vitamin C because white oyster mushroom extract contains vitamin E, vitamin C and other antioxidant compounds. In treatment P5, one sonde contained 13,784 mg of vitamin C and 35,041 mg of vitamin E.
