dc.description.abstractBackground. Medical students are prone to stressful situations. The state of stress causes disruption to various aspects of daily life, one of which is the student's academic Objective. Analyzing the relationship between stress levels and academic stress in first and second year students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara Methods. This study is an analytic descriptive study with a cross-sectional design by taking data directly from respondents using the DASS and PAS questionnaires. The population of this study were first and second year medical students of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, which were entered using the Slovin formula and obtained 222 people. Data were analyzed through Spearman correlation test through SPSS software. Results. Based on the results of research that has been obtained from 222 respondents, from the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS42) questionnaire, the most results are Normal (99 people), Mild (32 people), Moderate (57 people), Heavy (26 people) and Very Heavy (8 people) while from the Perception of Academic Stress (PAS) questionnaire, the most results are high level (212 people) and low level (10 people). The results of the correlation test of this study are positive with obtained (p < 0.001) Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between stress levels and academic stress.en_US
