dc.description.abstractBackground. Irregular menstrual cycle patterns in women are influenced by several risk factors, one of which is stress. Stress affects menstrual cycle patterns through the HPA (hypothalamic pituitary adrenal) axis. Disruption of menstrual cycle patterns is especially common in medical students with high study loads. Aim. The purpose of this study was to determine association between stress and menstrual cycle pattern in medical student of the faculty of medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara 2021-2023. Methods. This study is an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach with a sample of 130 samples selected through the simple random sampling method. Assessment of cycle patterns based on questionnaires and stress assessment using the DASS-42 questionnaire. Data were analyzed using chi square test through SPSS software version 27. Result. Based on 130 samples, the majority of students experienced normal stress (44%), normal menstrual cycle patterns (55.4%), with normal menstrual cycle disorders (55.4%). Bivariate test using chi square obtained p-value <0.001. Conclusion. There is a association between stress and menstrual cycle pattern in medical student of the faculty of medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara 2021-2023.en_US
