    Abstract
Introduction. Low Back Pain (LBP) is a musculoskeletal disorder that occurs most often in society with a global prevalence of 15-45% every year. School students are vulnerable to LBP complaints due to several risk factors such as carrying excessively heavy bags during school sessions. Objective. This study aims to determine the relationship between the weight of bags during school and LBP complaints among Raksana Education Foundation students. Method. This research used a descriptive research design with a cross-sectional approach which was conducted in August and September 2024 at the Raksana Education Foundation, Medan. The research population was Raksana Education Foundation students selected using a simple random sampling method with a sample size of 242 people. The inclusion criteria include active students from the Raksana Education Foundation aged 13 to 18 years and willing to be research subjects, while the exclusion criteria consist of students who have disorders and a history of trauma or spinal fracture and use wheeled bags to school. Data was obtained from filling out The Pain and Distress Scale questionnaire. To determine the relationship between bag weight and LBP complaints, a Chi-square test was carried out to see the correlation between the two variables. Results and Discussion. The study’s findings revealed that 28.9% of students experienced LBP complaints with a predominance of mild LBP at 26.9% and moderate LBP at 2.1%. Chi-square analysis revealed a significant correlation between sitting duration andposture on complaints of lower back pain (RR =0,161, p = 0.000). Conclusion. This research showed a correlation between the weight of the bag and the incidence of lowback pain.
