dc.description.abstract | This research is about illocutionary speech acts in the anime Tonari no Totoro. This object of this research is the sentences contained in the film Tonari no Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki. this This research aims to determine type of illocutionary speech acts and how the context of speech acts is in film Tonari no Totoro. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The data collection was carried out by using listening and note techniques. The data were analyzed using Searle‟s speech act theory by classifying illocutionary speech acts and Dell Hymes‟s context theory by describing context of speech. The results showed that there were 155 data found with four types of illocutionary speech acts, including assertive, directive, commisive and expressive. Assertive „speech stating‟ there are 77 data, assertive
„speech compalains‟ there are 10 data, assertive „speech reports‟ there are 6 data, directive „speech command‟ are 23 data, directive „speech advisories‟ there are 4 data, directive „speech permission‟ there are 8 data, directive „speech request‟ there are 3 data, commisive „speech offers‟ there are 2 data, commisive „speech promises‟ there are 5 data, expressive „speech of thanks‟ there are 4 data, expressive „speech apologizing‟ there are 4 data. Assertive illocution with the meaning of stating was found the most, while declarative illocutionary speech acts were not found in this animated film. | en_US |
