Background: Pediculosis capitis, also known as head lice, is an infection that is
categorized as a neglected disease, and is still commonly found throughout the
world, especially in developing and poor countries. Aim of this research is to
determine the relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of
Pediculosis capitis in students at SD Negeri 067773, Medan Marelan District in
2024. Method: This research uses cross-sectional observational analytical
research on 161 students at SD Negeri 06773, Medan Marelan District. Data
collection was carried out by interview using a questionnaire and taking samples
of Pediculus capitis. Analysis of the relationship between personal hygiene and
pediculosis capitis using the chi-square test. Results and Discussion: The
prevalence of Pediculosis capitis was 14.3%. Personal hygiene was poor at 13%,
good at 65.8% and very good at 21.1% by using chi square test, it was found that
the p value was <0.001. Conclusion: There is a relationship between personal
hygiene and the incidence of pediculosis capitis at SD Negeri 067773 Medan
Marelan District in year 2024.
