Hubungan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) dengan Kejadian Mioma Uteri di Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Prof. Dr. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis Medan

Abstract

Background Uterine myoma is a form of benign tumor originating from smooth muscle with a high incidence in Indonesia, which in 2022 was around 8,384 cases with a mortality of 2,454. With one of the risk factors is body mass index, especially in obese groups. Aim is to determine the relationship between body mass index (bmi) and the incidence of uterine myoma at Prof. dr. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis Hospital in Medan. Methods This study used an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. Data were obtained through medical records with a total sample of 281 people, with a consecutive sampling method obtained as many as 80 uterine myoma patients. Data were analyzed with univariate and bivariate tests using chi-square through SPSS software version 27. Results Based on a total of 80 samples, the highest age was 35-50 years in 59 patients (73,8%), nullipara parity in 56 patients (70%), menarche age <12 years in 46 patients (57,5%), non-menopausal status as many 65 patients (81,3%) and obese BMI in 55 patients (68,8%). Bivariate test shows there is an association between BMI and the incidence of uterine myoma in obese group with p-value <0.001 (p-value <0.05). Conclusion There is an association between body mass index (BMI) and the incidence of uterine myoma.
