    Abstract
Background. Caffeine consumption has now become a trend among people around the world. The high interest in caffeine consumption is due to the various benefits offered by the caffeine, such as improving the mood and alertness of consumers. Despite its various benefits, excessive consumption of caffeine carries the risk of adverse effects on the endocrine and reproductive systems. However, until now there has been no specific research regarding the risks of consuming caffeine on menstrual volume. In fact, menstrual volume disorders have become a crucial limitation for women in their daily activities. Objective. To determine the relationship between caffeine consumption and menstrual volume of female students at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara Batch 2021. Method. This research used an analytical observational method with cross-sectional data collection on 116 female students from the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara Batch 2021 who were selected based on consecutive sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using the Chi Square test to determine the relationship between the two variables. Results. Obtained a value of p = 0.004 (p < 0.05). Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between caffeine consumption and menstrual volume of female students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara Batch 2021.
