| dc.description.abstract | Background. The manifestations of breast cancer are often unnoticed by patients, causing them to present at an advanced stage. This impacts both prognosis and recovery rates. The prognosis of breast cancer is influenced by histopathological grading and classical immunohistochemical markers, such as estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, and HER2. Breast carcinoma can be categorized into four dominant molecular subtypes: Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2 Overexpression, and Triple Negative/Basal-Like. Objective. This study aims to evaluate the correlation between histopathological grading and molecular subtypes of breast cancer in female patients at Grand Medistra Hospital, Lubuk Pakam, during the 2022–2024 period. Methods. This study applied an analytical cross-sectional design with a consecutive sampling technique. Data were collected from the medical records of breast cancer patients at Grand Medistra Hospital, Lubuk Pakam, during the 2022–2024 period and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results and Discussion. Among the 63 subjects analyzed, the most common histopathological grading was grade 3, found in 39 patients (61.9%), followed by grade 2 in 19 patients (30.2%) and grade 1 in 5 patients (7.9%). The most frequently observed molecular subtype was Luminal B in 34 patients (54%), followed by HER2 Overexpression in 16 patients (25.4%), Luminal A in 7 patients (11.1%), and Triple Negative/Basal-Like in 6 patients (9.5%). Chi-square analysis yielded a p-value=0.165. Conclusion. There is no significant correlation between histopathological grading and molecular subtypes of breast cancer in the studied patients. | en_US |
