dc.description.abstract | Shallots have a high economic value, including vegetable commodities
that are most in demand by the community, especially in North Sumatra.
Tongging village in Tongging Village is a shallot production area in North
Sumatra but has poor soil chemistry due to leaching in the soil. Fertilization and
organic matter application can be done to increase shallot production. The study
aimed to assess the content of phosphorus and soil organic matter and production
in shallot planting areas in Tongging Village, Merek Subdistrict, Karo Regency,
from August 2024 to October 2024. The method used was a quantitative and
qualitative descriptive survey. Soil sampling using purposive sampling technique:
Soil samples were taken from as many as 30 samples with a depth of 0-20 cm, and
questionnaires and interviews were circulated to respondent farmers. The results
showed that soil P-total was 0.03-0.1%, and 46% of shallot farmers' land had a Ptotal between 0.08-0.10%. Soil C-organic content was 0.64-2.54%, and 60% of
the farmers' land had low C-organic content. Onion production ranges from 0.625-
16.7 tons/ha with an average of 7.63 tons/ha, which is lower than the national
production of 10.93 tons/ha. | en_US |
