Quality of Life of Women with Melasma in Dusun V Desa Pasar VIII Namu Terasi Langkat Regency
Abstract
Background Melasma is a hyperpigmented skin condition characterized by
brownish to blackish patches. This condition is generally more common in women
and influenced by many factors, such as age, hormonal changes, and sun exposures.
In addition to its impact on physical appearance, melasma can also significantly
affect psychological well-being, ultimately influencing the quality of life of those
who experience it. In this study, quality of life was assessed using the MelasQoL
questionnaire, which classifies it into three categories: good, moderate, and poor.
Aim To determine the quality of life of women with melasma in Dusun V Desa Pasar
VIII Namu Terasi, Langkat Regency. Methods This study employed a descriptive
observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size was
determined using a total sampling technique with a total of 53 respondents. Results
Most respondents were in a productive age (81.1%), and with the majority of
respondents engaged in farming (71.7%). The quality of life of women in Dusun V
Desa Pasar VIII Namu Terasi, Langkat Regency was found to be good in 22.6% of
cases, moderate in 35.8%, and poor in 41.6%. Conclusion The quality of life of
women in Dusun V Desa Pasar VIII Namu Terasi, Langkat Regency was found to
be predominantly poor.
