Introduction. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness
worldwide, characterized by progressive damage to the optic nerve often associated
with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). One of the risk factors that lead to
glaucoma is hypertension. Based on RISKESDAS 2018, hypertension ranks high as
one of the most common non-communicable diseases in Indonesia. Aim. To
determine the degree of correlation between knowledge of glaucoma and the
prevention of glaucoma in hypertension patients at Puskesmas Lima Puluh.
Methods. This study is a quantitative study that uses an analytic design with a cross
sectional approach regarding the degree of correlation between knowledge of
glaucoma and the prevention of glaucoma in hypertension patients at Puskesmas
Lima Puluh and obtained a sample size of 135 people who have met the inclusion
and exclusion criteria. Data collection was done offline by filling out the
questionnaires. Results. The results of the study using the Spearman Rank test
showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of
glaucoma and glaucoma prevention p<0.001 (p<0.05) and the strength of the
relationship was moderate with a value of r=0.510. Conclusion. There is a
significant relationship between the knowledge of glaucoma and the glaucoma
prevention.
