    Abstract
    Introduction. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative joint disease characterized by cartilage damage that is common in older people. This condition requires more attention because it can cause disability, which adds to the health and socioeconomic burden. Therefore, it is important to identify various conditions that contribute to OA, specifically metabolic problems such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), and dyslipidemia. Objective. To find out the most prominent metabolic components in knee OA at RSU Haji Medan for the 2023 Period Method. This study uses a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. Data was obtained from medical records as secondary data with consecutive sampling techniques. Results and discussion. The total sample was 86 patients with knee OA who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on the characteristics of the majority of the research subjects, namely women (81.6%), the highest age group is 61-70 years old (41.7%), and the most severe group is grade 4 (38%), In terms of metabolic components, hypertension is the most (87.4%). Furthermore, based on the characteristics of patients with knee OA accompanied by hypertension, the majority are women (84.2%) and the most advanced age group, namely 61-70 years old (47.4%). Meanwhile, in patients with knee OA accompanied by DM, the majority are women (73.7%) and the most common age group is 61-70 years old (73.7%). Meanwhile, in patients with knee OA accompanied by dyslipidemia, the majority are women (85.7%) and the most important age group is 51-60 years old (38,1%) Conclusion. The most prominent metabolic component in knee OA at RSU Haji Medan for the 2023 period is hypertension.
