Abstract
Workers have an important role in their work environment, so they must get protection for occupational safety and health in accordance with what is regulated in Law No. 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower. Work fatigue is one of the problems in the field of occupational safety and health which is also a risk factor for work accidents, including traffic accidents. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with work fatigue in Makmur and Halmahera bus drivers in Medan City. This study used quantitative research methods with a cross-sectional design. The population was 148 drivers. The sample was taken using purposive sampling with the criteria of the Medan-Pekanbaru route bus driver as many as 32 bus drivers. The results showed that the level of work fatigue in Makmur and Halmahera bus drivers was in the low category as many as 12 drivers (37.5%), in the medium category as many as 19 drivers (59.4%), and in the high category as many as 1 driver (3.1%). The results of bivariate analysis using Spearman’s Rank showed there was a moderate relationship between age and work fatigue (p = 0.002); there was a moderate relationship between length of service and work fatigue (p = 0.005); there was a moderate relationship between driving duration and work fatigue (p = 0.022); there was a low relationship between sleep duration and work fatigue (p = 0.024); there was a low relationship between rest time and work fatigue (p = 0.035); there was no relationship between nutritional status and work fatigue (p = 0.617). The researcher recommends that bus drivers can better manage the duration of driving in one day, make the best use of rest time, stretch the body during rest time and have sufficient sleep time.
