A hernia is a protrusion of a peritoneal sac, an organ or pre-peritoneal fat through a congenital or acquired defect. A hernia consists of a ring, sac and hernia contents. If the hernia gets bigger, surgery (Herniorrhaphy) will be performed to remove the protrusion. Hernia surgery will cause severe post-operative pain to be felt in the abdomen which will cause a disturbance in the sense of security and comfort. Non-pharmacological therapies that can be done post Herniorrhaphy are Back Message (Back Massage) and Rhythmic breathing distraction. The aim of this research is to carry out nursing care management using the back message method and rhythmic breathing distraction techniques for patients with priority post-inguinal hernia surgery pain problems. This research is in the form of a case study involving 3 patients post Inguinal Hernia Surgery at Prof. Hospital. Dr. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis, University of North Sumatra. After applying the back message method and rhythmic breathing distraction technique to post-Inguinal Hernia surgery patients for 3 days with a duration of 10-15 minutes, the results showed that there was a decrease in pain intensity in post-Inguinal Hernia surgery patients. Suggestions for health workers are expected to improve services in the field of nursing care using the back message method and rhythmic breathing distraction techniques for patients with priority post-Inguinal Hernia surgery pain problems.
