Translation Quality Assessment on the Translation of Tripcanvas Article

Abstract

This study focuses on the quality of the translation using on the one of articles of TripCanvas with the title Tips Lengkap Liburan ke Danau Toba: tempat menginap, tempat makan, sampai destinasi wisata seru and the English version the ultimate guide to lake toba-getting there, where to stay, eat and visit. The objectives of the study are to find out the accuracy, acceptability, readability and the total quality of Indonesian- English translation of TripCanvas article. The research method is qualitative descriptive method. This study used translation quality assessment model proposed by Nababan et al. which deal with three aspects, such as accuracy, acceptability, and readability. There were three raters who helped in assessing the text, they are a professional translator, a foreigner who can speak English, and a foreigner who can speak both English and Indonesian. The results of this study are: (1) the accuracy in the translation quality assessment of Tripcanvas Article is 2.5, with 37 out of 66 data obtained, (2) the acceptability in the translation quality assessment of Tripcanvas Article is 2.3, with 35 out of 66 data obtained, (3) The readability in the translation quality assessment of Tripcanvas Article is 2.7, 53 data out of 66 data obtained, (4) and the last, the total quality of TripCanvas article found is 2.4. Overall, the translation of TripsCanvas article is quite transferred in accuracy, less natural in acceptability and transferred well in readability.
