Peran Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kota Medan Dalam Meningkatkan Minat Baca

Abstract

This final project was conducted at the Library and Archives Department of Medan City, The objective of this study is to analyze the role of the Library and Archives Department of Medan City in enhancing reading interest. The research method used in this study is descriptive, with data collection techniques including lnerature review, observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the role of the Library and Archives Department of Medan City in fostering reading interest includes: 1) Providing guidance to students and teachers through outreach activities in schools, 2) Meeting users' needs by adding approximately 1,000 new tales ammally: 3) Collaborating with special libraries, such as the Bank Indonesia Library, 4) Inviting students to introduce them to library facilities, and 5) Partnering with the Melayu Institute to organize book review events. The most recent book exhibition planned by the Library and Archives Department of Medan City was not held due to COVID-19 restrictions and funding Timitations
