The photodegradation ability of titanium dioxide nanoparticles can be increased by the addition of carbon dots from tamarind seeds (Tamarindus indica.L) in degrading green naphthol B synthetic dye. The stages carried out are synthesising CDs from tamarind seeds and TiO2/CDs nanocomposites by hydrothermal method, as well as photodegradation tests of green naphthol B using TiO2/CDs nanocomposites under UV radiation with variations in irradiation time of 30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 minutes and photodegradation tests of green naphthol B using TiO2 nanoparticles and CDs with the optimum time obtained from photodegradation with TiO2/CDs nanocomposites. Characterisation of the photocatalyst material and green naphthol B after degradation was carried out several tests including determination of diameter and absorbance of CDs, determination of particle size and absorbance of TiO2/CDs nanocomposites. The results showed that CDs had been successfully synthesised which was marked by blue luminescence under UV lamp 366 nm, from HR-TEM results in the form of a dot with an average particle diameter size of 4.15 nm, and absorbance spectrum at 323 nm. The synthesised TiO2/CDs nanocomposite produced an average particle size of 33.59 nm and an absorbance spectrum at 357 nm. The results of the degradation analysis of green naphthol B using TiO2/CDs nanocomposite under UV radiation for 120 minutes showed the highest degradation effectiveness of 99,98%. This proves that TiO2/CDs nanocomposite photocatalyst material can be used in the photodegradation of green naphthol B.en_US
