dc.description.abstract | This research is motivated by the phenomenon of language variation in certain social groups or known as slang. This research uses the subject of Xiaohongshu social media users with the aim of describing the form of slang and the function of slang on Xiaohongshu social media (小红书 ). This research is a type of qualitative research with descriptive method. The theory used slang form Amrullah (2018) and slang function Yanchun and Yanhong (2013) with sociolinguistic approach. The results found 20 slang data which were then classified based on the form and function of slang usage. The classification of slang forms in this study is 15 sentence-shaped slang data, 4 phrase-shaped slang data, and 1 word-shaped slang data. The classification of slang functions is slang to pursue self-identity there are 13 data, slang function as an emotional feeling there are 4 data, and slang function to achieve politeness there are 3 data. The dominant slang form is sentence-shaped and the dominant slang function is the function of pursuing self-identity. | en_US |
