Analisis Alih Media Arsip Statis dengan Metode Konversi pada Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

The research aims to find out the process of converting static archives media using conversion methods at the Provincial Library and Archives Office of North Sumatra and to identify the obstacles in the analysis of static archives media conversion in accordance with ANRI regulations. The research method used was qualitative, with a descriptive approach. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, with a sample size of three people. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques applied were data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicated that in the digital archive conversion process at the Provincial Library and Archives Office of North Sumatra, there were three indicators: 1. Pre-implementation: programs and activity plans were prepared with a target for media migration in the work program. The static archive conversion was carried out through integrated stages in accordance with the Head of Service regulation. Conversion resources were required to have permanent historical value, however, a lack of IT understanding and inadequate infrastructure resulted in a slow conversion process. 2. Implementation: standards for naming digital objects had been established, and archive management used the SILAKAN application. Quality control of digital object files was still in progress, with scheduled indexing and protection. 3. Post-conversion: metadata was involved in accordance with ANRI regulations, but indexing was still done manually. Validation of metadata for the authenticity of digital objects was still under development, along with regular backup mechanisms.
