Management of Nursing Care For Patients with Hypertension in the Mahoni-Meranti Room, Prof. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis Hospital, University of North Sumatra
Abstract
Hypertension is a chronic medical condition in which arterial blood pressure
increases. This is diagnosed when blood pressure experiences a continuous
increase, namely ≥140 mmHg in systolic blood pressure and ≥ 90 mmHg in
diastolic blood pressure. The purpose of this paper is to analyze nursing care for
patients with hypertension in the Mahoni-Meranti Room, Prof. Chairuddin
Panusunan Lubis Hospital, University of North Sumatra. The method used is a case
study approach on 1 patient with hypertension, female and 58 years old. The case
study was conducted for 1 week from May 20-25, 2024 using a nursing analysis
process starting from assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation and
evaluation. The nursing problems obtained were acute pain and lack of
information. The main implementation that has been carried out on acute pain and
lack of information is to carry out non-pharmacological actions of warm compress
therapy for 10 minutes and education using leaflets. The results obtained were a
decrease in the level of pain scale from a scale of 5 to 0 and the patient understood
information about Hypertension. The conclusion of this case study is that clients
with hypertension who experience acute pain problems and lack of information can
be given intervention by carrying out non-pharmacological actions by means of
warm compresses so that they can reduce the pain scale and provide education
about hypertension so that patients understand the hypertension they suffer from.
