Pengelolaan Asuhan Keperawatan pada Pasien dengan Rheumatoid Arthritis di Kelurahan Pangkalan Masyhur Kecamatan Medan Johor

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is experienced by 0.5 1% of the adult population in developed countries. Based on Riskesdas data (2023), there is an increase in joint diseases, from 7.3% to 11.9%. Rheumatoid arthritis should not be ignored, because it can damage the joints and cause severe pain. One effective non pharmacological method to reduce pain is to warm the painful joint. Warm compresses can be used to treat pain and relax tense muscles. Plants such as lemongrass contain ingredients that can warm, anti inflammatory, and improve blood flow. The aim of this activity is to provide education about rheumatoid arthritis and how to reduce pain with warm lemongrass compresses to residents of Pangkalan Masyhur Village, Medan Johor District. The case study was carried out for 2 weeks, from 12 25 May 2024, using a nursing analysis process which includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation and evaluation. The nursing problems found were acute pain and lack of information. The main implementation for acute pain is providing education about rheumatoid arthritis and how to reduce pain with warm lemongrass compresses. People are able to do warm compress therapy for 10 minutes. The results showed a decrease in the pain scale from 5 to 0. The conclusion from this case study is that non pharmacological intervention with warm compresses is effective in reducing the pain scale in rheumatoid arthritis sufferers who experience acute pain.
