Management of Nursing Care for Families with Hypertension in Pangkalan Mansyur Medan Johor Village
Abstract
Hypertension can be defined as persistent blood pressure where the systolic pressure is above 140 mmHg and the diastolic pressure is above 90 mmHg. Hypertension is the main cause of heart failure, kidney failure. It is called the silent killer because people with hypertension often do not show symptoms. The Ministry of Health (2020) noted that the number of hypertension cases in Indonesia reached more than 63 million cases with a mortality rate of 427,218. The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI) also noted that the prevalence of hypertension in Medan City reached the highest position at 7,174 people. This figure is quite high and risky if not treated immediately. The purpose of this senior practice is to apply nursing theories and concepts in managing and providing nursing care to families with hypertension. This nursing care began on April 29 to May 25, 2024 given to 2 families with hypertension by helping families recognize health problems with health education, educating to make care decisions, educating how to care for family members with hypertension, motivating families to modify the correct environment and educating families about the benefits of health facilities for people with hypertension. The results obtained after nursing care was carried out in both families, the family was able to carry out 5 family tasks well.
