Oxalic acid is the simplest saturated dicarboxylic acid which has various
functions including as a rust remover, preservative, explosives and as a reagent in
the manufacture of colors. Oxalic acid can be produced through several
processes, including the process of smelting alkali from corn cob. The need for
oxalic acid in Indonesia continues to increase and is still met through imports
from other countries. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to establish an
oxalic acid plant from corn cobs in Indonesia. The establishment of this plant is
expected to meet the needs of oxalic acid in Indonesia.
Pre-design of Oxalic Acid Plant from Corn Cob is planned to operate with a
capacity of 1,425 tons/year with 330 working days a year. The planned form of
business entity is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a total workforce of 100
people. The results of the economic aspect analysis obtained are as follows:
Total Investment Capital = Rp. 190,278,405,422, -
Total Production Cost = Rp. 131,983,623,380,-
Sales Revenue = Rp. 227,484,928,611,-
Net Profit = Rp. 63,229,113,410.
Profit Margin = 39,67%
Break Event Point = 30,86%
Return on Invesment = 33,23%
Pay Out Time = 3 years
Return on Network = 55,4%
Internal Rate of Return = 59.66%
Based on the results of the economic aspect analysis, it can be concluded that
“Oxalic Acid Manufacturing Plant from Corn Cob” is feasible to establish.
