    Abstract
Tannin is an organic compound consisting of phenolic compounds that are difficult to separate and crystallize, and which precipitate proteins from solutions. Tannins can be naturally found in plants, for example the biomass waste from acacia bark. The materials used to produce tannin are acacia bark and methanol. The raw materials are mixed into an extractor with methanol as the solvent. The extraction process is carried out at a temperature of 60°C and a pressure of 1 atm. After that, the solid mixture is separated using a filter press and then processed in a vaporizer. The resulting tannin is in the form of a powder with a size of 200 mesh. The tannin production plant using acacia bark with methanol solvent extraction is planned to have a production capacity of 2.500 tons/year with 330 working days in a year. The plant is planned to be located in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia, with a plant area of 9.496,8 m². For the establishment and operation of the factory requires investment capital of Rp. 487,436,595,373 and production costs of Rp. 316,387,027,056. Based on the feasibility analysis, this factory has a BEP of 28.78%, ROI of 16.72%, POT for 5 years 11 months, RON of 27.86% and IRR of 21.67%. From the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that the pre-design of a tannin factory from acacia bark with a maceration extraction process can be established
