    Abstract
Age 60 years and above is the final stage of the aging process which has an impact on three aspects, namely biological, economic and social. Biologically, the elderly will experience a continuous aging process characterized by a decrease in physical endurance and susceptibility to disease. The Word Health Organization (WHO) has calculated that in 2025, Indonesia will experience an increase in the number of elderly citizens by 41.4%, which is the highest increase in the world. At this age, the elderly experience a decrease in the body's immune function, including a decrease in heart function, one of which is hypertension. The method used is to develop preventive and promotive programs by providing health education to the elderly, checking blood pressure and teaching the elderly how to deal with pain without drugs. The goal is that students are able to provide comprehensive nursing care to the elderly with hypertension by applying non-pharmacological pain management with a pain scale of 1-6 in Beringin Village, Medan Selayang District. The results obtained were the five clients had a pain scale of 5-6. Then on the third day the client's pain scale dropped to scale 2 after being given non-pharmacological pain management deep breath relaxation techniques and health education related to hypertension. Based on the results of actions taken on 5 elderly clients, it can be concluded that deep breath relaxation techniques are effective for reducing pain in hypertensive patients. It is recommended that the community be more informed about health information and diseases, especially hypertension, by utilizing mass or electronic media, and health workers to again insight into health.
