Designing an Amity Elderly Home with Architectural Bheaviour in Medan
Abstract
Loneliness has a significant impact on the elderly in their daily
activities. Older adults often feel left behind in various aspects
due to their difficulties in communication and mobility
limitations, which lead to infrequent social interactions with
others. Nursing homes become crucial as they serve as a place
to address the loneliness issue among the elderly, allowing
them to be cared for and their health and physical well-being
monitored.
The design of nursing homes that considers behavioral aspects
to enhance the well-being and quality of life for the elderly is
essential. Implementing behavioral architecture in this design
takes into account the comfort of the elderly, such as adequate
natural lighting, proper accessibility, elderly-friendly materials,
and maximizing interactions between residents.
A behavioral architecture approach serves as a valuable
guideline in designing nursing homes that consider the
psychology and behavior of the inhabitants. By integrating
these aspects into the physical and environmental design, it is
hoped that nursing homes can become more supportive places
for the well-being and quality of life of the elderly.
