Daya Hambat Gel Ekstrak Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) terhadap Pertumbuhan Bakteri Fusobacterium nucleatum secara In Vitro
Inhibitory Effect of Andaliman Gel Extract (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) Against the Growth of Fusobacterium nucleatum Bacteria In Vitro
Abstract
Andaliman contains alkaloid, flavonoid, glycoside, tannin, saponin, and triterpenoid
compounds that have antibacterial abilities. Fusobacterium nucleatum is a bacterium that
has an important role in periodontal disease as a bridge for early and late colony bacteria
in plaque formation that can lead to periodontitis. Additional therapy in the form of local
administration of antimicrobials in gel form can help in healing periodontal tissues after
scaling and root planing. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory effect
of andaliman gel extract (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) against the growth of
Fusobacterium nucleatum bacteria. The research method is a laboratory experiment with
a post-test only design. Disc diffusion method was used as a sensitivity test of
Fusobacterium nucleatum bacteria. The research sample used was Fusobacterium
nucleatum ATCC® 25586™. Data analysis used was non-parametric analysis, namely
Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the diameter of the
inhibition zone was 0 mm for andaliman gel extract in concentrations of 60%, 30%, 15%,
7.5%, and 3.75%. The conclusion of the study is that andaliman gel extract in
concentrations of 60%, 30%, 15%, 7.5%, and 3.75% cannot inhibit the growth of
Fusobacterium nucleatum ATCC® 25586™ bacteria.
