dc.description.abstractThe use of heat exchangers in the cooling system is used to increase efficiency in air conditioning, it is necessary to add a heat exchanger with a shell and helical tube type to prevent the refrigerant entering the compressor in a saturated vapor state, because wet compression can occur and reduce compressor efficiency. By installing this heat exchanger on the exit side of the condenser as a hot fluid and connected to the exit pipe of the evaporator as a cold fluid, the refrigerant coming out of the evaporator is first heated by the condenser exit pipe, so that it becomes a hot vapor further. Tests carried out for 15 hours with data collection every 15 minutes, the data obtained in the form of pressure and temperature at 6 points which are located at the compressor outlet, condenser outlet, hot fluid heat exchanger outlet, expansion valve outlet, evaporator outlet, and cold fluid heat exchanger outlet. The test results resulted in an increase in the coefficient of performance (COP) by 10,89%, an increase in the refrigeration effect by 2,14%, a decrease in compressor work by 12,75%, and savings in electrical power consumption by 11.22%.en_US
