Nursing Care Management for Fracture Patients with Constipation Management in the Rindu B3 Room, Haji Adam Malik Central General Hospital
Abstract
Constipation is a bowel movement disorder defined as loose defecation and
characterized by irregular bowel movement frequency (less than three times per
week), difficulty passing stool, or both. Constipation is more common in the elderly
and female population. The prevalence of chronic constipation varies between 2.4-
39.6% in adults and 4-25.8% in the elderly. The prevalence of any type of
constipation (chronic and sporadic constipation) varies between 2.6-31% in the
adult population and 4.4-44.5% in the elderly population. The purpose of this paper
is to describe nursing care with constipation management in fracture patients in the
Rindu B3 Room, Haji Adam Malik Central General Hospital. The results of the
assessment obtained the main complaint is constipation because it has not
defecated for five days. Nursing diagnoses are constipation, acute pain, physical
mobility disorders, skin integrity disorders, and self-care deficits. The nursing
action plan that has been prepared has been implemented and the nursing
evaluation of nursing diagnoses has been partially resolved. Nurses are expected
to further improve nursing care services with constipation management in fracture
patients to improve service quality and patient health status.
