This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between interpersonal competence and social media addiction in late adolescents. In this study, the number of respondents was 355 people aged 18-24 years (M = 19.9, SD = 1.46). The method in this study is a correlational quantitative method with data collection using a likert scale. In this study, researchers used measuring instruments that had been constructed by Coroiu et al (2015) based on the interpersonal competence questionnaire scale from Buhrmester et al (1988) which consisted of 15 items and researchers also used the social media addiction scale that had been adapted by Napitupulu & Rangkuti (2023) which consisted of 18 items. The data obtained was processed using the pearson product moment correlation analysis technique. Based on the results of the research conducted, the correlation coefficient (r) value is 0.317 with a p value of 001 (p < 0.05). The results showed that there is a relationship between the variables interpersonal competence with social media addiction in late adolescents. These result provide important insights for the development of interventions aimed at enhancing late adolescents' interpersonal competence as a preventive strategy in reducing the risk of social media addiction.en_US
