dc.description.abstract | The aim of this research is to evaluate library collections at Library and Archives Service of Simalungun Regency based on National Library Standards Number 008 of 2017. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. There are 3 informants, namely the Head of Library and Archives Service of Simalungun Regency, Head of Library Collection Development and Processing, Section of Collection Building and Development. The data sources for this research are primary data and secondary data. The data collection techniques were by observing, interviewing and taking documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out using three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research showed that; 1) the type of collection of four sub-indicators (written works, printed works, recorded works, works in electronic form) has not met yet; 2) the collection per capita has not met standard; 3) the sophistication of the collection has met the standard; 4) the development of a collection of five sub-indicators, three sub-indicators (collection development policy, addition to the collections according to library needs and the library carried out a re-chop at least once in 3 years) has met standard while two sub-indicators (written collection development policies and collection development have to pay attention to developments in science and technology) have not met standard yet; 5) the procurement of library materials has not met standard; 6) the collection processing has met standard; 7) the preservation of library collections from two sub-indicators (carrying out regular maintenance of collections and repairing damaged collections) has met standard. So it can be seen that 3 of the 7 indicators are in accordance with National Library Standard 008:2017 and the other 4 are not in accordance with National Library Standard 008:2017. The conclusion of this research is that the collections at the Library and Archives Service of Simalungun Regency as a whole did not comply with National Library Standards Number 008 of 2017. | en_US |
