dc.description.abstract | Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) is carried out at Dr. Pirngadi Regional General Hospital, Medan City, located at Jl. Prof. H. M. Yamin No. 47, Perintis Kemerdekaan, Medan Timur District, Medan City. This Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) will be carried out on September 9, 2024 - November 13, 2024 at 08.00-16.00 WIB, Monday-Friday. The purpose of implementing this PKPA is to provide and improve understanding to prospective pharmacists by seeing firsthand the role and duties of pharmacists in hospitals. This aims to ensure that prospective pharmacists are able to understand the problems in hospitals and are able to practice professionally in accordance with the provisions. Pharmacists, especially those working in hospitals, are required to realize the expansion of pharmaceutical services from product orientation to patient orientation.
Pharmacists play a role in the management of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and disposable medical materials, as well as clinical pharmacy services in hospitals. Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) activities at Dr. Pirngadi Regional Hospital, Medan City, include: studying the functions and duties of hospitals in public health services, studying the systematic work of the Hospital Pharmacy Installation, studying the distribution system of pharmaceutical supplies in hospitals which include:
inpatient services, outpatient services, IGD services, Central Surgical Installation services, Chemotherapy services, Hemodialysis Services and Warehouses. PKPA activities in managing pharmaceutical supplies in hospitals include studying the procurement of pharmaceutical supplies, storage in drug warehouses and medical equipment warehouses, financial management and administration. Prospective pharmacists also provide clinical pharmacy services such as Drug Information Provision (PIO) in outpatient pharmacy
services, reconciliation, prescription review, mixing sterile non-sterile preparations, chemotherapy.
