dc.description.abstractThe increasing growth of the food and beverage industry in Indonesia has also led to an increase in the production of supporting materials in the food and beverage industry, one of which is preservatives. For preservatives commonly used is sodium benzoate. In the manufacture of sodium benzoate using a neutralization process, where benzoic acid is reacted with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium benzoate and water. This plant is designed with a production capacity of 4,500 tons/year. The location of the plant is planned to be established in the Krakatau Cilegon Industrial Estate, Citangkil District, Cilegon City with the required land area of 16,598 m2. the number of workers required is 151 people with the form of business entity is a limited liability company (PT). led by a director with a line and staff organization system. The results of the analysis of the economic aspects of the sodium benzoate manufacturing plant from benzoic acid and sodium hydroxide are investment capital of Rp 268,546,351,193, production costs of Rp 155,612,009,271, PM of 33.069%, BEP of 40.966%, ROI of 20.372%, RON of 33.953%, POT of 4.9 years, and IRR of 20.661%. From all the analysis of economic calculations, it can be concluded that from an economic point of view, the pre-fabrication of sodium benzoate from benzoic acid and sodium hydroxide with a neutralization process with a production capacity of 4,500 tons/year is feasible to build and make a profit.en_US
