dc.description.abstractThis research aims to describe the intrinsic elements and social phenomena in the animated film Upin & Ipin Episode Keris Siamang Tunggal. The intrinsic elements that will be discussed include theme, characters and characterization, plot, setting and message. The social phenomena that will be discussed include social facts, social events, social behavior and social change. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The theories used in this research are structural theory and literary sociology. The data collection technique used in this research is the note-taking technique. Data analysis in this research is a library research. The results of this research show that in the intrinsic elements there is a theme of Inderaloka's struggle for power. The characters in this film consist of 15 characters and the characterizations include protagonists and antagonists. The plot of this film is a mixed plot where there is a forward plot and a backward plot. There are 10 settings in this film, namely, Tok Dalang's warehouse, Inderaloka forest, Belalang's house, wayang stage, Mak Deruma's smoked banana stall, story mountain, ship, king's palace and royal prison. The time setting consists of 3 times, namely, day, evening and night. The atmosphere consists of 5 moods, namely, fear, sadness, annoyance, anger and happiness. The message that can be conveyed is to help each other, never take what does not belong to us and do not be disobedient to our parents. The social facts in this film are heirlooms, kingdoms, acts of goodness and crimes. The social events in this film are war, coup, helping, playing, children's mischief, revenge and fighting over keris. The social behavior that can be found in this film is usurping power, tidying the warehouse, giving water, killing and chasing chickens. The social change in this film is the return of Inderaloka's power to Jenin.en_US
