dc.description.abstract | Background: The Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) activities at Dr.
Pirngadi Regional Hospital, Medan City, which are carried out include studying the
functions and duties of hospitals in public health services, studying the systematic
work of the Hospital Pharmacy Installation, studying the distribution system of
pharmaceutical supplies in hospitals which include inpatient services, outpatient
services, IGD services, Central Surgical Installation services, Chemotherapy
services, Hemodialysis Services and Warehouses.
Objective: The general objective of implementing the Pharmacist Professional
Work Practice in Hospitals is to study the role and function of pharmacists in
managing pharmaceutical supplies and clinical pharmacy services at Dr. Pirngadi
Regional General Hospital, Medan City.
Method: Management of Pharmaceutical Preparations, Medical Devices, and
Medical Consumables and Clinical Pharmacy Services.
Results: Prospective pharmacists also perform clinical pharmacy services such as
Drug Information Provision (PIO) in outpatient pharmacy services, reconciliation,
prescription review, mixing sterile non-sterile preparations, chemotherapy. In
addition, they also monitor drug therapy and assess the rationality of drug use
through an integrated approach method, namely the SOAPIE method (Subjective,
Objective, Assessment, Plan, Implementation, Evaluation).
Conclusion: After conducting the Pharmacist Professional Education Internship
activities at Dr. Pirngadi Regional Hospital, Medan City, it was concluded that
pharmacists at Dr. Pirngadi Regional Hospital, Medan City have carried out their
roles and functions in managing pharmaceutical supplies and clinical pharmacy
