Aedes aegypti is a type of mosquito that carries dengue mostly found in tropical
and subtropical regions. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still become a
public health problem in Indonesia. One of the efforts to eradicate DHF is by
eradicating its vector, namely through the eradication of mosquito larvae using
vegetable larvicides. The dangers of using chemical insecticides can also be
minimized by using vegetable larvicides. Garlic (Allium sativum) contains Allicin,
garlic oil and flavonoids which have been shown to have a larvicidal effect on the
mortality of Ae. aegypti larvae. This aim of study was to determine the effectiveness
of garlic solution as larvicides for mortality of Ae. aegypti larvae. The type of
research used in this study was a quasi-experimental research design with
Completely Randomized Design (CRD. The sample of larvae test was 480 larvae
which devided into six tratment groups (concentration of 0%, 3%, 5%, 7%, 10%
and 15%). Each group contained 20 larvae and 4th repelitions and be observed for
24 hours. The results of One Way ANOVA test showed that the p-value was <0.05,
so there was significant differences in the mortality of larva at various
concentrations. The conclusion of this study showed that solution of garlic with a
concentration of 10% and 15% was effective as a larvicide against third instar Ae.
aegypti larvae because within 24 hours it killed larvae as much as more than 90%.
