The Perceptions of Library Users on the Online Public Access Catalog in Universitas Medan Area Library
Abstract
This research aims to determine the perceptions of library users on online public access catalogs at Universitas Medan Area Library. This research is conducted in Universitas Medan Area Library. This research uses descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The sample size is determined by using the Slovin formula with 100 people from the total population of 21,302. Technique for determining. The sample size uses purposive sampling technique. The research instrument uses the PIECES, Performance, Information, Economic, Control, Efficiency, Service. Data collection uses a questionnaire distributed to respondents. The results of the research show that library users' perceptions of performance have an average satisfaction of 3.12, with a satisfaction level of between 2.51 to 3.25 with the title satisfied. The information indicator has an average satisfaction of 3.13, with a satisfaction level of between 2.51 to 3.25 with the predicate of satisfaction. The economics indicator has an average satisfaction of 3.14, with a satisfaction level of between 2.51 to 3.25 with the title satisfied. The control indicator has an average satisfaction of 3.13, with a satisfaction level of between 2.51 to 3.25 with the predicate of satisfaction. The efficiency indicator has an average satisfaction of 3.10, with a satisfaction level of between 2.51 to 3.25 with the title satisfied. The service indicator has an average satisfaction of 3.13, with a satisfaction level of between 2.51 to 3.25 with the title satisfied. Overall, the PIECES rater indicators produce an average satisfaction of 3.13. This value is at a satisfaction level between 2.51 to 3.25. The values of all indicators are in the category of satisfied.
