dc.description.abstract | The ongoing global energy crisis necessitates the development of innovative renewable energy technologies to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. This study aims to design and build a piezoelectric-based energy harvesting device installed on stairs, as well as to analyze the effect of variations in piezoelectric sensor circuits on the generated voltage. Additionally, the research investigates the impact of different user weights and the pattern of ascending and descending stairs on the output voltage.The methodology employed in this research is experimental, with the study variables including variations in user weight, the pattern of movement (ascending and descending the stairs), and the configuration of the piezoelectric circuit. Three circuit designs were tested: Design 1 (30 parallel), Design 2 (15 parallel 2 series), and Design 3 (10 parallel 3 series).The results indicate that the pressure applied to the piezoelectric sensor is directly proportional to the output power. A weight of 80–90 kg produced the highest voltage, while circuit design 3 (10 parallel 3 series) yielded a higher output voltage compared to the other designs. Furthermore, descending the stairs generated greater pressure and voltage compared to ascending. This device requires approximately 269.1 minutes to fully charge a 2500 mAh battery. The findings suggest the potential application of piezoelectric technology on stairs as an alternative energy source in areas with high pedestrian traffic. | en_US |
