Every parent must be involved through appropriate parenting to ensure that children with special needs can develop optimally. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Positive Parenting Program in increasing parental involvement for parents of children with special needs. The study employs a mixed-method approach using the explanatory sequential mixed methods model. The researcher adapted the Parent Involvement Scale by Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler (2005) to measure parental involvement. The Positive Parenting Program module was developed based on the principles of the Positive Parenting Program proposed by Sanders (2008). The participants in this study were 30 mothers of children with special needs from a special school (SLB) in Medan. All participants were randomly assigned to either the experimental group or the control group. The study results indicate that the Positive Parenting Program is effective in increasing parental involvement, with an effect size of 72.2%. These findings align with the results of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD), which showed that all participants in the experimental group experienced improved parental involvement after participating in the Positive Parenting Program.en_US
