Report on The Practice of The Pharmacy Profession Food and Drug Supervisory Agency
Abstract
Objective: The Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) at the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration Agency for students of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program is carried out to improve the understanding of prospective pharmacists about the role, function, position and responsibilities of pharmacists at the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration Agency, as well as to equip prospective pharmacists with insight, knowledge, skills and practical experience to carry out pharmaceutical work at the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration Agency.
Implementation Date: Implementation of PKPA at the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration Agency will be carried out on March 4-28, 2023.
Number of Effective Hours: PKPA activities are held every Monday – Thursday at 08.00 – 16.30 WIB and Friday at 08.00 – 16.00 WIB. During the month of Ramadan, PKPA activities are held every Monday – Thursday at 08.00 – 15.00 WIB and Friday at 08.00 – 15.30 WIB. Based on this schedule, the number of effective hours for students to participate in PKPA at the BPOM RI is 134.5 hours.
PKPA Activities: The implementation of PKPA at the POM Agency began with a public lecture in the form of an introductory presentation from various directorates at the POM Agency on March 4-6, 2024. Continued with PKPA at the work unit of the Directorate of Standardization of Drugs, Narcotics, Psychotropics, Precursors and Active Substances (ONPPZA) on March 7-25, 2024. After that, a final presentation of the PKPA report was carried out by each directorate on March 26-28, 2024. During PKPA at the ONPPZA Standardization Directorate, students worked in the Deputy Strategic Support (DSD) work team unit and the Drug Efficacy and Safety Standardization (KKO) work team. In the DSD team, students conducted a review of the MoU between the POM Agency and IAKMI (Indonesian Public Health Experts Association) and created the Work Reference Framework for the Preparation Activities for the Assessment of the Indonesian POM Agency to become a WHO-Listed Authority (WLA). In the KKO team, students created a matrix containing information on indications of several active drug substances, BCS class information, NTI information, and a list of generic drugs available in Indonesia.
