Currently, ground transportation is still faced with the problem of congestion at intersections. This issue is not only caused by driver behavior but also by the need to improve traffic flow planning as an effort to reduce such incidents. Therefore, a device is needed that can regulate the duration of traffic light signals, adapting to the state of traffic density. In this thesis, a traffic system is designed using a queue length sensor based on PLC, aimed at automatically controlling traffic according to the density of each lane. This device operates using the E18-D80NK sensor as a vehicle queue length detector and a PLC programmed with GX Developer software using ladder diagram programming language. Based on tests conducted on a miniature highway intersection, the results show that the device is capable of automatically controlling the duration of traffic light signals based on the conditions detected by the sensor as an indicator of road density.en_US
