Histological Description Of The Pancreas Of Rats (Rattus Norvegicus) Induced by 7,12-Dimetylbenz-[a] Anthracene (DMBA) With Administration Of Durian Peel Ethanol Extract (Durio Zibethinus Murr.)
Abstract
Durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.) contains secondary metabolite compound,
flavonoids metabolite compound has a role as an antioxidant. Flavonoid compounds are
able to capture and neutralize free radicals so they can repair cell damage. The research
aims to determine the effect of administering durian peel extract (Durio zibethinus Murr)
on the histology of rat pancreas (Rattus norvegicus) induced by 7,12 Dimethylbenz-[A]
Anthracene (DMBA). The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with
six treatments, namely: negative control (only given food ad libitum); positive control
(induced by DMBA 10 mg/kgBB); DMBA induction + methotrexate 9mg/kgBB; and
DMBA induction + durian peel extract 150, 300 and 450mg/kgBB. Histology of the
pancreatic organ was made using the paraffin method and Hematoxylin Eosin (HE)
staining. The research results showed that durian skin extract at a dose of 150 mg/kgBW
had the potential to improve the diameter of the islets of Langerhans, necrosis,
vacuolization and congestion.
