dc.description.abstract | The manufacture of zirconium alloy coating with chrome by using pack cementation
method and comparison of its corrosion Knowing the effect of coating on zirconium
plate in 9000C temperature and comparing its corrosion characteristics in NaOH
solution in 8000C temperature where the effect of soaking time on corrosion rate for
mass value per each hour. This research aims to make the coating on zirconium plate
resistant to corrosion. Looking at the time variation on the decrease in sample mass
with corrosion test results. Preparation of coating with a mixture of powder Cr 15
gr, Al2O3 30 gr, NH4Cl 5 gr in a mixture until homogeneous sintering for 10 hours.
Zirconium plates in corrosion tests with pure NaOH experienced a weight loss of
162,0681 mpy and without coating corrosion test corrosion rate value of 6,8756 mpy.
To analyze the elemental composition of a material (XRF), surface morphology
structure (SEM), crystal structure (XRD), zirconium plate hardness analysis (Vickers
Hardness). The result values of the physical properties of zirconium plates coated
and without Cr coating are very different, the SEM test showed the morphology of
the formation of the coating experienced uneven distribution on the zirconium plate,
the XRD test showed a crystal peak where zirconium before coating had a hexagonal
crystal peak and when coated and corroded it changed to monoclinic, average crystal
size on pure zirconium plate 28.04nm, zirconium corrosion 4, 87 nm and for coated
coating 16.96 nm vickers hardness test results Zirconium NaOH 375.99 HV,
